Heards Ferry Elementary School
Fulton County Schools
Heards Ferry Elementary represents the next generation of a new, multi-story elementary school prototype designed for the Fulton County Board of Education (FCBE).
The narrow site, necessitated a linear, east-west design, with K through 5 classrooms stacked within the East Wing, and core functions (media center, music, gymnasium, cafetorium and administrative suites) stacked at the west end of the building. This configuration allows the core spaces to be isolated from the classroom spaces in order to accommodate after-school activities and community-use functions.
Noteworthy: CCCA worked closely with FCBE to develop master specifications for three different elementary school prototypes, which have been used to construct more than 20 projects. Most recently, CCCA prepared master specifications for FCBE’s various middle and high school facilities.
