Orme Campbell High School

Cobb County Schools

Academic / Institutional Smyrna, Georgia   |  262,529 sf

Orme Campbell High School is a story of transformation from ‘puzzle pieces’ to place. Beginning in 1952 with 425 students, the school has a history of mergers and explosive growth that led to a patchwork of buildings and trailers struggling to meet the demanding needs of a diverse 21st century high school.

With over 15 hallways and six buildings, the campus needed expansion and clarity. The new construction started with a competition gymnasium in 2019 providing a new face on the west side of campus and continued with a new performing arts center in 2021 providing a new public face on the opposite side of the campus. To continue to address the need for classroom capacity, a new infill three-story classroom wing was integrated into the campus fabric for a campus of 3000 students and growing. (3300 FTE)

The revitalization of the entire campus continued with reimagining substantial areas of the 94,546 SF interior. This includes a new expanded ‘main street’ connecting administration, to expanded tiered dining areas, to open vertical circulation, and anchored by the media center, or ‘community hub.’ With increased capacity and fresh, updated cohesive palette both inside and out the school is able to continue to serve and now inspire the students it serves.
