After hours of hard work and sleepless nights, the CCCA team was awarded Best in Show at the IIDA Georgia Chapter 2016 DRESSED event last week. Each participating team pulled at random a fashion house and a musician to marry and form a fashion style that represents the synthesis in a unique way. Our team selected the combination of Yohji Yamamoto, a fashion designer known for monochromatic styles with touches of big volume and color, and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, a swing group that is heavily influenced by the New Orleans culture. CCCA translated this fusion into a design evocative of a New Orleans Jazz Funeral, using bold shapes, large forms and bright colors.
Thanks to our sponsors, Tandus Centiva, CFC Group and TurnerBoone, the design team was able to use materials such as tulle, seating mesh and solid vinyl tile to bring the ensemble to life.
IIDA’s DRESSED mission is to provide designers a unique opportunity to unleash their creativity. A portion of the ticket sales were donated to Dress for Success Atlanta, a not-for-profit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence with support, professional attire and development tools needed to help women thrive.
