The new addition to
the Student Recreation Center at Kennesaw State
University will complete
the last side of the redevelopment of the “Campus
Green”; a large outdoor gathering and social
space in the center of campus.
The
project began with the development of a comprehensive
program and building master plan which showed
how the existing building could be renovated
and added
to, through a series of phased construction projects
over the next 6-8 years. The final program outlined
a strategy that increased the building from its
current 40,000 square feet to approximately
85,000 square
feet.
The
new center will include 13,500 sf of Fitness space,
Aerobics rooms, a Rock Climbing
wall, a 20,000
sf Gymnasium with raised jogging track, a new
Recreation Pool and Lap Pool, Squash and Racquetball
courts,
Multi-purpose rooms and support spaces.
