The East Campus Village
Commons is the “symbolic center” of the University
of Georgia’s development of the East Campus
precinct. The East Campus Village Commons is a student
center and dining facility for the eastern precinct
of the campus that will serve the residences of the
new 1200 bed East Campus Village Housing complex.
The
new facility is to function as a student union
for the precinct that includes in addition to the
new housing, the University’s Performing and
Visual Arts Complex, the future Art school, and the
students Physical education complex.
Complimenting
the residential and academic core, the facility
includes a 580 seat dining hall with servery and
kitchen,
a cyber cafe, student common areas, administrative
offices and production kitchen for the University's
satellite food operations. A transportation node
was also developed as a part of the facility.
